Clinical Analysis of Open Heart Surgery -Annual 66 Cases Report

Abstract
|
|
|
In 1983, 66 cases of open heart surgery were performed under cardiopulmonary bypass.
There were 31 male and 35 female patients ranging in age from 3 years to 58 years.
41 cases(62. 1 %) were congenital heart disease, and 25 cases(37. 9 %) were acquired heart disease.
There were 41 congenital heart anomaly with 4 operative deaths(9.8%), consisting of 29 acyanotic cases with 2 deaths(6. 9 % ), and 12 cyanotic cases with 2 deaths(16. 7 % )
In 25 patients of acquired valvular heart disease, 27 valves were implanted and there was only one death(4.0%). Postoperatively, warfarin sodium was medicated with checking prothrombin time.
The overall mortality for 66 cases was 5 cases, so, the mortality rate was 7.6%.
